Hi, I'm Meredith. I'm driven to live well and live fully.
I actually dreamed of being an artist as a child, but after my first haiku, my third grade teacher told me I had promise as a writer. I loved poetry because it was the first time, aside from art class, that I could paint whatever picture I wanted - but in the form of words. Public relations perfectly pairs my need to be logical as well as artistic. With PR, I find I can implement creative ideas in an organized manner. Compiling and creating multiple facets to create a dynamic product is a challenge I find very rewarding.
Much of what I've learned as a public relations practitioner is a result of my internships.
I've worked in London for Mumford and Sons. My internship experience with a music management company was crucial to my understanding of intercultural communication. It allowed me to see public relations past an American lens and experience it from a global perspective.
I unknowingly taught myself HTML and designed a website. My experience with a small marketing firm in Houston, Texas, challenged me to accomplish more than I thought I was capable of.
I rode a music-powered art bike down the lanes of Houston's Comicpalooza. My internship at Houston Makerspace exposed me to the dynamic nature of community-operated workspaces and startup businesses.
I work with an artisan chocolatier. In a short amount of time, I helped create and implement the framework for Mostly Chocolate's social media, boosting the company's online exposure. I also led the company's PR efforts with the local community and vendors, helping their business immensely.
These experiences (and many more) have groomed me to tackle anything that comes my way and shaped my interests in culture, management, and communication.
So, what else is there to know about me? Well, I'm proud to call myself a Texan. Even more so, I'm proud to say I'm from Houston, the most diverse city in the nation. I'm the product of a big city, weekends at the lake, and late nights at the soccer field.
I'm also an assortment of the places I've visited. I've lost myself many times wandering through the streets of a city and absorbing its unique and individual identity. I'm an avid runner, abstract painter, and an obsessed foodie. I tap dance when I'm nervous, speak German when I'm excited, and believe any bad day can be fixed with a bowl of chips and salsa.
My story as an individual is a whirlwind where I've witnessed and personally experienced life threatening illnesses. It sounds scary (and it was), but more than anything, I'm grateful. I'm so thankful for who I've become, what I've learned, and the people I've come to love because of it.
My family is core to who I am and boundless in terms of who I define that as. I see life as a vast collection of opportunities because each day holds the chance to learn and develop a connection with someone new. To me, these connections are vital to wholeheartedness. I believe the more we embrace others, the more we truly understand ourselves.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little better! I hope you browse through my website and catch a glimpse of how my skills, passions, and interests all work together in whatever I venture to do. Check out my resume, portfolio, and please don't hesitate to contact me!
